Happy birthday to me

I almost forgot since I haven’t written anything for over a month and a half: today, this blog is 11 years old.
Happy birthday to you.

In the meantime, we returned to Milan for a few days at the end of October, saw another piece of the Expo, which is now over, said goodbye to people we hadn’t had time to say goodbye to last time, and came back with the classic food parcel (not exactly classic: coffee and panettone, mostly).

It’s been almost ten months since we’ve been here, and things have been running smoothly, although there are surprises that you don’t expect: last Thursday, my manager and boss told me that he needed to talk to me in private. Last Thursday, my manager and boss told me he had to speak to me privately. At a certain point in the conversation, I see that he pulls out a letter, and honestly, seeing it scares me for a moment, thinking: what have I done wrong?
And in short, they gave me a pay rise without my asking for it—one of those things that repay you for all your effort into coming and staying here.

But it also happened that my trusty and beloved mobile phone abandoned me forever after four years. I admit I was more sorry than I thought, not because I don’t have a worthy replacement at the moment, but because I was somehow attached to it. For a few days, I will use my old Nokia E71. Thanks also to the unexpected salary increase, I can afford to buy a Nexus 5X, something I had already planned but has now become necessary. The thing I would not have imagined before, when I already wanted a Nexus, is that I can now quickly go and buy it in a shop, Currys PC World in Tottenham Court Road, where Google has its shop.
