#234 - Yahoo Aviate

Warning: this article was written over 9 years ago, some information may be out of date.

I happily own an Android, on which I have mainly installed applications that are useful to me in some way, apart from a couple of games (a couple in the sense that they are two).
I couldn’t do some of these without, even if I had to change my phone and operating system. One proving very useful is not a real app but a launcher, Yahoo Aviate, which I appreciate above all for its extreme simplicity.
At the bottom of the home page, you have space for the apps you use the most, in two rows of 4, and then you can add more widgets if you want, but I prefer to leave a picture there. One of the things I appreciate most is that by scrolling from the bottom corner upwards, you have your favourite contacts. Scrolling to the right, you have the apps divided into categories, still scrolling through all the apps in alphabetical order, which makes searching for apps you don’t usually use very easy.
Scrolling to the left, you have a sort of context menu, which presents widget-like information based on where you are, the time of day, and whether you are at work or home, and even these screens are customisable. Last but not least, the impression is that everything is very smooth and fast.
I have only been using it for a few days, but I must say that I am pleased with it, and I recommend it.
