#194 - May, tax returns bloom

For a few years now, out of sheer laziness, I have been using the Regional Services Card to log into the Agenzia delle Entrate website and do everything needed to fill in and submit the Unico form. This was because, at some point, I had been asked to change my password, and I had not done so, it had expired, and I could no longer log in.
The problem was that the whole CRS reader system worked very well on Windows, but I couldn’t get it to work on the Mac.
So yesterday, I decided to try to do a password reset and realised that they don’t just ask you for your social security number and PIN but also the original password that they had sent you with the second part of the PIN when you registered.
Luckily I am a tidy person and would hardly have thrown away such a document, and in fact, I found it today, dated 31/05/2000.
It’s true that if I didn’t have it, I could go to an office of the Agency to retrieve it, but, at least here, it means losing at least half a day in the queue, and it’s not that everyone can afford it.
In short, we are saying that to use an online system without any problems, I had to keep a paper document for 14 years. Is it just me who sees something wrong with that?
